Thank you for
visiting the Turlough (tur-lock) Eoghain (owen) Meehan
website.
It is dedicated to our son, Turlough, born on June 23, 2007.
At the age of
5-1/2 weeks our Turlough was diagnosed with
infant ALL – infant
Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Infant ALL is a
relatively uncommon type of leukemia that occurs in children
less than 12 months of age. After a courageous fight at
Children’s Hospital Boston, Turlough passed away on December
18 2007 at six months old.
Dealing with a serious illness and the loss of a child
changes your life and the lives of people around you. It is
our hope that in the future no other infant or family will
have to suffer through this disease. The exact cause of most
childhood cancers remains a mystery. It is only through
research that we can hope to improve the chances that
infants diagnosed with this disease will be cured. It is
because of the research done thus far that we enjoyed the
six months we had with our son. That is why we are asking
those who visit this site to pause for a moment and make a
donation in Turlough’s memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer
Institute. Donations made on this website go directly to the
“Turlough Meehan Research Foundation” at Dana-Farber. We
hope you will visit this website often to check for updates
on research and to keep track of our upcoming fund raising
events.
Turlough touched many lives in the short time he was with
us. As you explore his website, please take a moment to read
the stories and look at the
pictures. We trust you will be
touched as well and help in our quest to find a cure for
this fatal disease.
Thank you for your generous support.
